We offer a variety of First Aid, Health and Safety, CPR and AED courses. STANDARD FIRST AID

This is a two day course, which covers the recognition and treatment of airway, breathing, and cardiovascular emergencies. We use multimedia and many props to enhance your learning experience. Training includes CPR skills, an introduction to AEDs, management of choking, stroke and cardiac arrest. Other first aid skills include management of severe bleeding, shock and fainting. Additional modules include child and infant CPR, Medical Emergencies such as management of a casualty experiencing a seizure or diabetic emergency, broken bones, or head or neck injuries. Our courses are tailored to your specific environment or needs.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID

This 7 to 8 hour course covers the recognition and treatment of airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies. Training includes CPR skills, management of choking, bleeding, shock, and fainting. We utilize multimedia and many new props to enhance your learning experience.

AED TRAINING PROGRAM

We offer unit specific programs which provide the rescuer with all the confidence required to respond to a cardiac arrest casualty. This program is recognized and endorsed by Provincial and Federal agencies.

TARGETED RESPONDER AED

This one-day course focuses on the skills professional rescuers need for responding to cardiac emergencies. The course provides both AED and Oxygen Administration certification. The learner will become confident in the proper use of AED along with the use of supplemental oxygen, Bag Valve Masks, Oropharyngeal Airways and suctioning.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER

This 40 hour course is designed for professional rescuers such as Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Ski Patrollers, Lifeguards, specialized rescue teams or anyone else most likely to be first on the scene of an emergency. Students will gain skills and confidence in making critical life saving decisions and performing the appropriate medical treatment. The course will include basic life support, airway management and suctioning, oxygen administration to breathing and non-breathing casualties, splinting and immobilization techniques as well as casualty moving and transport. The student will practice focused baseline vital signs and advanced primary and secondary surveys. Other components include emergency childbirth, advanced shock treatment, heat and cold emergencies, and many more electives. Includes Mosby First Responder manual.

BABYSITTING

Designed to teach the 11-15 year old everything they need to know to become a dependable and responsible babysitter. This fun and informative program covers topics such as first aid for children, preventing and recognizing emergencies, feeding and diaper changing techniques and choosing safe and fun age-appropriate games and activities. The student will also learn the questions that should be asked in an interview, as well as how to recognize and react to inappropriate behavior.

WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System)

This 4-hour training course provides workers with the mandated workplace WHMIS training. The course will focus on legal aspects, product labeling, storing and handling products safely and properly, Material Safety Data Sheets and how to use this information to protect your health and safety.

OXYGEN TRAINING

This 4-hour certification course will teach learners how to properly and safely administer oxygen to both breathing and non-breathing casualties. The skills learned will include the use of resuscitation masks, Bag Valve Masks and airway management devices. This hands-on program will allow the student to gain confidence in making appropriate decisions in treating people using this vital drug.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID

This 20 hour course teaches the principles of dealing with complex situations with the limited resources that would be available in the wilderness. The student will gain the confidence required to manage medical emergencies and evacuation in spite of the demands that accompanies remote areas.
